Women's Committee Celebrates 20th NJ AFL-CIO WILD Conference

WILD Conference

The CWA Local 1036 Women’s Committee proudly joined union sisters from across the state this month to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the New Jersey AFL‑CIO Women in Leadership Development (WILD) Conference—a milestone event honoring two decades of empowering and elevating women in the labor movement.

Held during Women’s History Month, this year’s WILD Conference carried extra meaning as leaders, activists, and trailblazers came together to reflect on the program’s growth and impact since its founding in 2006. What began as a space to recognize women’s contributions in labor has evolved into one of New Jersey’s most influential leadership‑development gatherings for union women across all sectors.

Gov. Mikie Sherrill Speaks to WILD Conference

The anniversary celebration featured special appearances from Governor Mikie Sherrill and AFL‑CIO President Liz Shuler, whose participation underscored the conference’s importance and the ongoing commitment to advancing gender equity in the labor movement. Their remarks highlighted the critical role women have played—and continue to play—in strengthening unions, shaping policy, and leading the fight for workplace justice.
