Chris Smalls, born in 1988 in Hackensack, New Jersey, is currently making history in his role as President of the recently established Amazon Labor Union. He began his career with Amazon in 2015 as a picker in a warehouse in New Jersey.

Burlington and Mercer County will each be having St. Patrick’s Day parades, which Local 1036 will be participating in. We encourage our members to join us for a day of family-friendly fun and march in the labor delegations of the parade.

The COVID-19 pandemic ushered in a new use of technology, especially for state workers. Increased access to take home tech and apps like laptops, Zoom, and Teams made it possible for the state to continue running despite workers being fully remote. 

Hattie Canty, born in 1933 in rural Alabama, would go on to be a leading force in the labor movement, championing the causes of organized labor and the Civil Rights movement.
