CWA Local 1036 Continuing Education Scholarships for Members
Award Amount: $2,000 each, two awards total
Deadline: January 12, 2026
Open to MEMBERS currently enrolled in a program of study at a college, university or technical school. The amount of the scholarship shall be $2,000 and will be awarded to two (2) scholarship recipients after providing proof of enrollment for the academic year 2025.
CWA Local 1036 Member Student Loan Debt Assistance Scholarship
Award Amount: $2,000 each, 12 awards total
Deadline: January 12, 2026
Applicant must be a member in good standing of CWA Local 1036. The amount of the scholarship shall be $2,000 and will be awarded to twelve (12) scholarship recipients after providing proof of student loan debt for the calendar year of 2025.
CWA Joe Bierne Scholarships
Award Amount: $4,000 each
Deadline: April 30, 2026

Sixteen partial college scholarships of $4,000 each are being offered for the 2026-2027 school year. Winners, selected in a lottery drawing, also will receive second-year scholarships of the same amount contingent upon satisfactory academic accomplishment. Part-time students, less than 12 credits, will receive half of the scholarship monies.
Eligible for the awards are CWA members and their spouses, children and grandchildren, including those of retired or deceased members.
Applicants must be high school graduates or at least high school students who will graduate during the year in which they apply. Undergraduate and graduate students returning to schooling may also apply. Prior winners may not reapply.
Union Plus Scholarships
Award Amounts: $500 to $4,000
Award date: May 31, 2026. During the first week of June 2026 award recipients will be notified by postal mail, and all applicants will be sent email notification.

These one-time cash awards are for study beginning in the Fall of 2023. Students may re-apply each year. Current and retired members of unions participating in any Union Plus program, their spouses and their dependent children (as defined by IRS regulations) are eligible. Grandchildren are not eligible unless they are a legal dependent (as defined by IRS regulations). At least one year of continuous union membership by the applicant, applicant's spouse or parent (if applicant is a dependent). The one-year membership minimum must be satisfied by May 31, 2026.
