CWA 1036 Recognizes National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week
In recognition of National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week, CWA 1036 proudly honors the dedicated professionals who serve as the vital first link in our emergency response system. We appreciate our members in Hunterdon, Burlington and Cumberland counties who work in 911 and Public Safety Communications.

Public Safety Telecommunicators (PSTs) are the calm, steady voices on the other end of the line during moments of fear, crisis, and uncertainty. Their professionalism, compassion, and unwavering commitment ensure that help is dispatched quickly and accurately when seconds matter most. They perform under the most difficult circumstances, under enormous time pressures. And they get it right every time.
Every day, our PSTs provide life‑saving support to police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel while simultaneously guiding callers through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. They gather critical information, coordinate resources, and maintain constant communication with field responders—often managing multiple emergencies at once. Their ability to remain focused and composed under intense pressure is nothing short of extraordinary, and their work is integral to the safety of our communities.
Under New Jersey law, Public Safety Telecommunicators are recognized as first responders themselves—a designation that reflects the essential and demanding nature of the work they do. We deeply appreciate and recognize our PSTs for their dedication, resilience, and service. This week, and every week, we thank them for answering the call, for supporting those who protect us, and for being true first responders in every sense of the word.
